An good example of garden design in a window-box that is ideal for a first- time gardener, is to use plants that are easy to grow, and will encourage insects, especially bees; in this way he will be able to get a little piece of nature on his window ledge. The advantage is that the plants will easily handle hot sunny conditions and sandy soil that would not require to be watered as frequently as other containers. Plants that can be used for this are Alba, Viola Close, Blauglut, Nepeta and Allium hollandicum.
